KazTransOil JSC Connects New 11 km Section of the Pavlodar – Shymkent Main Oil Pipeline Bypassing the Village of Shubarssu

 22.05.2025    48

KazTransOil JSC has successfully completed the project for the construction of a new section of the Pavlodar – Shymkent main oil pipeline with a diameter of 820 mm (from km 1587 to km 1598), laid to bypass the village of Shubarssu in the Ordabasy district of Turkistan region. The new linear section, more than 11 km in length, was connected on May 22, 2025.

The project was completed ahead of schedule and is aimed at improving the reliability of the pipeline system and reducing technogenic risks. It enabled the decommissioning of a worn-out section that ran close to residential buildings in Shubarssu village, thereby ensuring safe and stable oil transportation.

To connect the new section, a 72-hour shutdown of the pipeline was planned between the Sholak-Korgan Oil Pumping Station and the Shymkent Oil Delivery Point. All work was carried out in full compliance with occupational safety, industrial safety, and environmental protection standards and did not affect the overall volume of oil transportation.

Modern engineering solutions were employed during construction, including the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method to cross the «Samara – Shymkent» highway without disturbing the road surface. The new section is designed for an operating pressure of 55 kgf/cm².

To implement this operational task, more than 100 employees from the Mangystau, Aktobe, Pavlodar, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, and Shymkent pipeline departments, as well as from the company’s central office, were involved, along with over 40 units of specialized equipment.

The construction and commissioning of this section is part of KazTransOil JSC’s strategy to modernize its production assets and ensure uninterrupted oil transportation.
