KazTransOil saved over 361 million tenge through energy eficiency measures in 2025

 30.01.2026    28
In 2025, KazTransOil JSC saved more than KZT 361.4 million as a result of implementing a comprehensive set of energy conservation and energy efficiency improvement measures.

As part of the Year of Energy Efficiency announced by KazMunayGas JSC, KazTransOil JSC implemented a full range of measures provided for in the Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Program for 2025. The projects implemented have resulted in significant energy savings and confirmed the effectiveness of a systematic approach to energy consumption management.

By year-end, total energy consumption decreased by 1.1% compared to the previous year, which is equivalent to 1,440 tonnes of standard fuel. Specific energy consumption per oil freight turnover declined from 3.7 to 3.61 toe/million tonne-kilometres, representing a 2.4% reduction and reflecting the company’s consistent efforts to improve the energy efficiency of its technological processes.

These results were achieved through the implementation of the Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Action Plan for 2025–2029. During the reporting period, key focus areas included the modernization of pumping and electric drive equipment, as well as optimization of operating modes along the main oil pipelines.

At the Main Oil Pumping Station «Kalamkas» of the Mangistau Oil Pipeline Administration, replacement of a main pumping unit reduced specific electricity consumption along the Kalamkas–Karazhanbas section by 27%, equivalent to annual savings of 1.115 million kWh.

At the T. Kassymov Oil Pumping Station of the Atyrau Oil Pipeline Department, replacement of a pumping unit resulted in an 8% reduction in specific electricity consumption, or 248,000 kWh per year.

At the B. Zhumagaliyev Main Oil Pumping Station of the Zhezkazgan Oil Pipeline Department, replacement of synchronous electric motors led to a 6% reduction in specific energy consumption, equivalent to approximately 300,000 kWh annually.

In addition, optimization of operating modes along the «hot» Uzen-Atyrau-Samara oil pipeline continued in 2025. On the Atyrau-Samara section, optimal transportation temperature regimes were selected, resulting in savings of approximately 9 million cubic meters of gas used for in-line oil heating.

Since 2010, KazTransOil JSC has demonstrated a steady reduction in energy costs associated with oil transportation. Over the past 15 years, the company’s specific energy consumption has decreased from 8.84 to 3.61 toe/million tonne-kilometres—nearly a 60% reduction.
