«KazTransOil» JSC has launched flood prevention measures
to ensure uninterrupted oil transportation

 14.03.2025    28

«KazTransOil» JSC is taking all necessary flood prevention measures to prevent possible risks and maintain uninterrupted oil transportation.

Taking into account flood forecasts, the company has introduced an enhanced control regime for the condition of production facilities. The «KazTransOil» JSC flood prevention headquarters is ready for prompt deployment in the event of a flood threat. The Crisis Management Team has been activated in the central office, and the Incident Management Team is operating in the regions most susceptible to floods - Atyrau, Kulsary, Aktobe and Pavlodar Oil Pipeline Departments.

Preventive work began last fall. A number of preventive measures have been implemented within the framework of the Organizational and Technical Measures Plan:

  • 755 units of specialized equipment have been put on alert.
  • A stock of necessary materials has been created, including inert materials, sacks, polyethylene films, entrenching tools and fuels and lubricants.
  • Round-the-clock monitoring of the condition of main oil pipelines, pumping stations, tank farms and hydraulic structures has been established.
  • Training sessions on the topic: «Personnel actions during a natural disaster: major flood, inundation» have been organized in the production units of «KazTransOil» JSC.
  • Unscheduled briefings of employees on the specifics of work during the flood period are conducted.
  • Snow and ice are removed from the territory of the facilities, the operability of equipment is monitored, etc.

In order to promptly respond to possible changes in the flood situation, the company maintains close cooperation with regional and district flood control commissions, and also receives up-to-date data from the RSE «Kazhydromet».

The experience of 2024, when Kazakhstan faced large-scale floods, confirmed the effectiveness of the measures taken: the system of main oil pipelines of «KazTransOil» JSC functioned without failures, and the transportation of oil to refineries and along export routes was carried out in the normal mode. In addition, the company actively assisted local executive bodies in carrying out protective work in populated areas.
