The delegation from the International Association of Oil Transporters visited the N. Shmanov Oil Pumping Station (OPS)

A meeting of the International Association of Oil Transporters (IATN) was held in Atyrau to exchange experience in the field of occupational safety, industrial safety and environmental protection. Under the chairmanship of CPC General Director Nikolai Gorban, a discussion platform «Culture of Safe Production» was organized within the framework of the event, which brought together the heads of safety areas of six oil pipeline operating companies from Kazakhstan, Hungary, China and Russia.

Representatives of KazTransOil JSC, CPC JSC, Transneft PJSC, MOL PJSC, KKT LLP, NWPC MunaiTas LLP, as well as North Caspian Operating Company exchanged experiences, discussed the methodology of data exchange between companies that can help develop common approaches for developing a culture of safe production of all members of the association.

Askar Kabulov, Director of the Department of Industrial Safety, Labor Protection and Emergency Situations of KazTransOil JSC, who represented the company at the meeting, noted that KazTransOil, like other participants, strives for zero injuries and supports such meetings that strengthen dialogue and help improve occupational safety and production culture throughout the MATN perimeter.

As part of the meeting, the participants made a technical visit to the Atyrau Oil Pumping Station of CPC-K JSC, as well as a similar visit to the N. Shmanov Oil Pumping Station of the Atyrau Oil Pipeline Department of KazTransOil JSC.  N. Shmanov Oil Pumping Station, commissioned in 1969, is one of the modern stations that have undergone deep modernization. It provides oil transportation through the Uzen–Atyrau–Samara main oil pipeline, supplies crude oil to the Atyrau Refinery, and also handles transshipment of hydrocarbons into the Kenkiyak–Atyrau pipeline operated by MunaiTas North-West Pipeline Company LLP for delivery to domestic refineries — Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery (POCR) and PKOP — as well as for export to the People’s Republic of China.

The international delegation familiarized itself with the operation of the production facilities of the OPS, including the pumping stations, oil heating unit, vapor recovery system, and the tank farm.

The participants got a comprehensive understanding of the specifics of the technological process, the volume of oil pumping, as well as the safety system operating at the plant, energy conservation and environmental protection measures in accordance with international standards.

During the visit, the participants discussed issues of common approaches to the assessment of industrial risks, the practical application of safety tools for the sustainable and progressive development of a culture of safe production.
