The team of the Mangistau Oil Pipeline Devision of KazTransOil JSC demonstrates coordinated and professional work, ensuring stability, reliability, safety of oil transportation, energy efficiency and sustainability of export infrastructure

 07.08.2025    121
On August 6, 2025, as part of a working visit to the Mangistau region, General Director of KazTransOil JSC Arman Kassenov held meetings with the labor collectives of the Karazhanbas OPS, Zhetybai OPS and Ozen MOPS, and also got acquainted with the implementation of a number of infrastructure projects of the Mangistau Oil Pipeline Division (MOD). During the meetings, production results for the first half of the year were summarized, current issues were discussed and priorities for the near future were outlined.

The Mangistau Oil Pipeline Division is one of the largest and unique in its infrastructure divisions of the company, with a multimodal oil transshipment system: via the main pipeline, rail transport and seaport. This is the only division that provides three types of shipment, which makes it a strategically important element of the entire transport system of the country.

Thanks to the well-coordinated and professional work of a team of about 1,200 people, in the first half of 2025, the volume of oil transportation via the MOD amounted to 9 million tons - 41% of the company's total volume. Freight turnover reached 4.4 billion ton-kilometers.

For the first half of 2025:
  • Oil loading into tankers through the Aktau MOPS amounted to:
  • in the direction «Baku - Tbilisi - Ceyhan» - 785 thousand tons of oil,
  • in the direction «Makhachkala - Novorossiysk» 999 thousand tons of oil;
  • Oil discharge from rail tank cars at Aktau MOPS amounted to 790 thousand tons
  • Supply to the plant of JV «CASPI BITUM» LLP amounted to 260 thousand tons

At the same time, a stable mode of oil transportation from the fields of the Mangistau region is ensured via the main oil pipeline «Ozen - Atyrau - Samara» to ensure the loading of domestic oil refineries and supplies to export destinations. Maintaining the set rate of deliveries confirms the high reliability of the production process at the MOD and its key role in ensuring the domestic fuel balance of the country.

Taking into account the technological needs of oil refineries, the following batch oil pumping schemes have been implemented:
  • on the «Karazhanbas - Aktau» section of the main oil pipeline «Kalamkas - Karazhanbas - Aktau» to provide raw materials to the plant of JV «CASPI BITUM» LLP;
  • on the Ozen-Atyrau section of the Ozen-Atyrau-Samara main oil pipeline to ensure stable loading of the Atyrau Oil Refinery.
The implementation of these oil pumping schemes ensures uninterrupted and stable operation of these industries.
Particular attention is paid to the development of sea shipment, the volumes of which continue to grow due to the attraction of new shippers and the expansion of export routes. Since the beginning of 2025, Private Company with Limited Liability «KMG Kashagan B.V.» has begun shipping its resources through the port of Aktau. This confirms the demand for infrastructure and a high level of operational interaction.
The MOD is consistently working to improve the energy efficiency of technological processes.
In 2024, a new main pumping station was put into operation at the Zhetybai OPS. Thanks to this, it was possible to reduce the specific energy consumption for pumping oil in the Zhetybai - Ozen direction from 1.05 to 0.89 kWh/ton, or by 15%.
In January 2025, the main pumping unit of the NM 1250/260 type was replaced with a pumping unit with a capacity of 500 m³/h at the Kalamkas MOPS. The implementation of this event made it possible to reduce the specific energy consumption on the Kalamkas - Karazhanbas section of the Kalamkas - Karazhanbas - Aktau main oil pipeline by 18%.
During a conversation with the teams of the Karazhanbas OPS and the Ozen MOPS, Arman Kassenov thanked the employees for their conscientious and effective work:
«The team of the Mangistau Division demonstrates a high production culture, responsibility and team spirit. This is reflected not only in the fulfillment, but also in the overfulfillment of plans, in the readiness to introduce new technologies and in the desire to maintain the sustainability of the company's entire transport system.»
The company's focus remains on creating safe and comfortable working conditions. During the trip, the CEO got acquainted with the progress of modernization of the production and administrative and household infrastructure:
  • a project is being implemented at the Karazhanbas OPS to reconstruct power supply systems and build a two-story modular building with an area of over 3,240 m²;
  • at the Zhetybai OPS, installation of two vertical tanks with a capacity of 10,000 m³ each, equipped with a fire extinguishing and irrigation system, continues;
  • a major overhaul is planned in 2026 in the office building of the Mangistau Administration with an area of over 4,000 m² to improve the quality of working conditions for employees.
The Mangistau Division is, first and foremost, people. In 2025, the average length of service of MOD employees was 17 years, and the average age of personnel was 45 years, which indicates high professional qualifications and continuity of generations.
KazTransOil JSC continues to implement its sustainable development strategy. The team of the Mangistau Division makes a significant contribution to achieving the company's goals, demonstrating stable production results, a high level of responsibility and readiness for new challenges.
