In order to increase the volume of water supply to Atyrau and Mangistau oblasts, the project for the reconstruction of the water pump station No. 5 (Water pump station-5) near the «Astrakhan-Mangyshlak» water pipeline is nearing completion, which will allow bringing the volume of water supply from the head «Kigach» Water pump station from 94,000 m³ / day up to 110 000 m³ / day.
Reconstruction of Water pump station -5 will allow to increase volumes of water supplies for subsequent redistribution to consumers through utility networks of consumption regions.
The «Astrakhan-Mangyshlak» water pipeline was put into operation in 1988. To date, the actual capacity of the waterway is 94 thousand m3 / day.
In connection with the decline in water consumption in the 1990s, one of the waterworks stations, Water pump station -5, was decommissioned, but the subsequent economic growth and population of the Atyrau and Mangystau regions caused the need for Water pump station -5 reconstruction and making its operation more powerful. For example, the city of Zhanaozen and Kulsary, the settlements of Maikumgen, Akkistau, Isatay and other settlements of Atyrau and Mangistau oblasts required additional water supply in recent years.
In general, 183 objects are consumers of the Volga water: oil companies, industrial enterprises, cities, towns, agricultural producers, utilities of Atyrau and Mangistau oblasts.
The reconstruction of Water pump station -5 includes the construction of a pumping station equipped with a modern machine room, four reservoirs with a total volume of 40,000 m3, pumping fire extinguishing with tanks, a boiler room, the installation of a frequency-controlled drive and other necessary equipment, and the construction of an administrative building.
Monitoring of the efficiency of the Water pump station -5 operation will be carried out at all stages of reception and pumping of the Volga water. Periodic sampling and preparation of samples of pumped water, as well as their analysis, will be performed by a laboratory located on the territory of the Water pump station.
