Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B. V. (KPO) successfully completed the Plan Preventive Maintenance (PPM) in 2019, which was attended by the specialists of KazTransOil (KTO) JSC. Joint work was carried out on the linear part of Karachaganak-Atyrau Pipeline System (KAPS) of KPO and at the oil pumping stations Atyrau Terminal and Bolshoy Chagan, under the contract concluded between KPO and KTO for the provision of services for the operation and maintenance of KAPS for 2019-2021.
All production facilities of the field, including the Karachaganak processing complex and the production collection system, were completely stopped for the PPM. The largest overhaul in the history of KPO was carried out without harm to the environment and in compliance with all safety requirements.
Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B. V. noted the coordinated work of specialists of the Western Department of operator services of KazTransOil JSC, thanks to the professional experience and diligence of which all the goals and objectives were timely, efficiently and safely implemented.

Karachaganak field with reserves of 1.2 billion tons of oil and 1.35 trillion m3 of gas is located in the West Kazakhstan region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is developed by an international consortium of 5 oil and gas companies: Shell (29,25% - 100% affiliated company B.G Karachaganak Limited»), Eni (29,25% - 100% affiliated B.G Karachaganak Limited»), Chevron (18%), LUKOIL (13.5 %), KazMunaiGas (10%).
The 24 - inch Karachaganak-Atyrau pipeline with a total length of 635.5 km was commissioned in 2003 to pump raw materials from the Karachaganak field into the Caspian Pipeline Consortium pipeline through the terminal in Atyrau for further export. The design capacity of the pipeline is 10 million tons / year.
KazTransOil JSC has been providing services to Karachaganak Petroleum Operating BV for the past 16 years in the operation and maintenance of the trunk oil pipeline.
The budget of the Contract for a period of 3 years with a possible extension of 2 periods of 12 months each was calculated using the inflation rate for 2019-2021, taking into account the annual increase in the payroll of the staff involved and rates for vehicles used in the provision of services.
Budget of the previous five-year contract from 2013 to 2018 amounted to 6 billion 679 million tenge.
