The release of 23,600 sturgeon fry into the Kigash River aims to preserve the biological diversity of the Caspian Sea and its coastal zone.
The sturgeon fish have been tested for infectious and parasitic diseases that could pose a threat to the river's ichthyofauna.
The replenishment of fish resources in the Kigash River has been carried out in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan «On the Protection, Reproduction, and Use of Animal World».
Main Waterline LLP owns the Astrakhan-Mangystau pipeline and extracts water from the Kigash River to supply oil and gas extraction and industrial enterprises, as well as the population of the Atyrau and Mangistau regions.
