KazTransOil has commissioned facilities at the Zhetybai and Karazhanbas oil pumping stations

 13.01.2026    35

KazTransOil JSC has completed the implementation of projects to develop production infrastructure at the Zhetybai and Karazhanbas oil pumping stations. The projects are aimed at reducing environmental risks, enhancing industrial safety, and ensuring the stable and reliable operation of the oil transportation system in line with ESG principles.

At the Zhetybai oil pumping station, an upgraded tank farm has been commissioned, providing safe oil storage and transportation while minimizing environmental impact. The project incorporated technical solutions designed to improve the region’s environmental performance, including the installation of floating roofs (pontoons) on storage tanks, which reduce atmospheric emissions by limiting oil evaporation.

The key facilities of the tank farm include:

-two vertical steel tanks with a capacity of 10,000 cubic metres each;

- a foam-based fire-fighting pump station;

- two reinforced concrete fire water storage reservoirs with a capacity of 1,000 cubic metres each;

- process pipelines for oil receipt and pumping.

As part of the project, engineering systems were also constructed and modernized, including power supply, lightning protection, lighting, and fire safety facilities, thereby enhancing the station’s industrial and environmental safety standards.

At the Karazhanbas oil pumping station, the reconstruction of the power supply system has been completed, aimed at improving the reliability and resilience of energy supply for production processes. The works included the installation of a modern power unit manufactured by a domestic producer, providing backup power supply for station equipment, as well as the implementation of new lightning protection systems and energy-efficient lighting.

During the project, 42 electric drives were replaced, and new power and control cables with a total length of 152 km were laid along newly constructed cable racks. These measures significantly improved operational safety and reduced technological risks.

The implementation of these projects contributes to reducing environmental impact, enhancing industrial safety, and ensuring the long-term sustainable and reliable operation of KazTransOil oil transportation infrastructure.
