KazTransOil JSC Reduces Energy Intensity of Oil Transportation on the Atyrau – Bolshoy Chagan Section of the Uzen – Atyrau – Samara Trunk Oil Pipeline by 7%

 20.03.2025    192

At the T. Kasymov Oil Pumping Station of the Atyrau Oil Pipeline Department, a successful trial launch was carried out for a trunk pump unit with a capacity of 1,250 m³/h, replacing the previous 2,500 m³/h pump unit. The replacement was completed using a pump unit from the company's own resources.

This project was implemented as part of the Year of Operational Efficiency Improvement, announced among the subsidiaries of NC KazMunayGas JSC. The modernization will reduce the specific energy consumption for oil transportation on the Atyrau – Bolshoy Chagan section of the Uzen – Atyrau – Samara trunk oil pipeline by 7%. It is expected that the annual electricity savings from replacing this pump unit will reach up to 1.5 million kWh.

Additionally, at the beginning of 2025, following the replacement of the trunk pump unit at the Kalamkas head oil pumping station, the specific energy consumption for oil transportation on the Kalamkas – Karazhanbas section of the Kalamkas – Karazhanbas – Aktau trunk oil pipeline was reduced from 1.134 to 0.89 kWh per thousand ton-km, resulting in annual savings of over 880 thousand kWh.

Overall, by the end of 2024, the specific consumption of all types of energy for oil turnover, equivalent to 3.7 tons of fuel equivalent (t.o.e.) per million ton-km, decreased by 6.6% compared to the previous year. These results were achieved through the implementation of optimal technological modes for pipeline operation and the execution of an energy-saving and efficiency improvement plan, leading to a reduction in the energy intensity of oil transportation.

KazTransOil JSC has successfully integrated energy efficiency and energy-saving principles into all aspects of its operations. Moving forward, the company will continue working in this direction, as improving energy efficiency in production processes remains one of its key priorities in sustainable development.
