No accidents for the reason of improper technical condition of «KazTransOil» JSC pipelines were fixed from 2007 to 2017.
The accident rate is the main indicator of effectiveness of the measures taken in the area of industrial safety, and the absence of violations in this area for five years speaks about effective systematic efforts taken by the company.
The statistical data confirmed by the inspections of the authorized bodies evidence about the operational reliability of the pipeline network of «KazTransOil» JSC. Industrial safety is ensured throughout the entire length of the pipelines, health and environmental safety at the pipeline transport facilities are prioritized and treated with a high level of responsibility.
An important aspect in the trouble-free operation of the pipeline system is a timely diagnostics of its technical condition. To identify and quickly remove any pipeline defects, the company provided in-pipe and external diagnostics of 4,874.07 km of the oil pipeline (91% of the total length) from 2012 to 2017, using the most modern diagnostic equipment. With the total length of the company’s oil pipelines being 5,377.3 km, the diagnostics of 500 km was not performed as the time for that has not come yet.
In order to ensure the qualitative monitoring of the pipeline system condition, the pipeline diagnostics services are procured by «KazTransOil» JSC in full compliance with the Procurement Rules of «Samruk-Kazyna» Group, and the qualification requirements and relevant certification of contractors are documented.
The effectiveness of anticorrosion means used in «KazTransOil» JSC is confirmed by the absence of corrosion failures in the main oil pipelines within the period from 2012 to 2017.
In close cooperation with law enforcement agencies, «KazTransOil» JSC has reversed the situation with criminal illegal tapping into the company’s pipelines starting from 2012. Already in 2013, the company succeeded to reduce the number of unsanctioned tapping from several dozens and even hundreds a year to 17 facts; 12 unsanctioned tapping were identified in 2014; 14 in 2015; 3 in 2016, and only one was found in 2017.
The insignificant inconsistencies in operation and maintenance of the pipeline network of «KazTransOil» JSC are not deemed as systemic violations, and removed promptly without any notable consequences for the pipeline network and the republic’s population.
