The volume of emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere at the facilities of «KazTransOil» JSC in January-September 2020 decreased by 15% compared to the same period in 2019 and amounted to 17 284 tons.
In accordance with the permits of the authorized bodies in the field of environmental protection, the limit of emissions of pollutants of «KazTransOil» JSC for 2020 is set at 49 786 tons.
The main sources of air pollution at oil pumping stations are oil storage tanks, oil loading and discharge platforms, oil heating furnaces, and boiler houses.
Independent accredited laboratories regularly monitor the atmospheric air condition at the production objects of «KazTransOil» JSC. Reports are sent quarterly to the environmental protection authorized bodies.
To prevent and reduce the negative impact on the atmospheric air, «KazTransOil» JSC implements measures to reduce emissions of pollutants. In particular, tank farms are equipped with pontoons, gas equalization systems, and steam recovery units. Boiler installations are reconstructed.
A pontoon is a floating device placed inside a tank with a fixed roof that separates the surface of the oil from the gas space of the tank to prevent oil evaporation.
Gaz compensation system - a system of pipelines connecting the gas spaces of a group of tanks with a fixed roof without a pontoon.
Steam recovery unit - a unit for removing volatile organic compounds in the vapor stream of light hydrocarbons by means of adsorption technology in the activated carbon layer.
