«KazTransOil» JSC invested 4.5 billion tenge in the restoration of historically contaminated lands

As part of the project for recultivation of disturbed land (historical pollution) in 2020, «KazTransOil» JSC performed work on the restoration of 4 hectares of land on the first section of 984-985 km of the Uzen - Atyrau - Samara main oil pipeline, located on the territory of Akzhaik district of West Kazakhstan region, 1.2 billion tenge was allocated for this environmental action.

Work on the elimination of historical pollution along the Uzen - Atyrau - Samara main oil pipeline has been carried out since 2011. Over ten years, 20.07 hectares of land have been restored for a total amount of 4.5 billion tenge.

In 2021, it is planned to reclaim 4 hectares of land on the second section of 984-985 km of the Uzen-Atyrau-Samara oil trunkline.

Recultivation of historically contaminated lands is carried out in two stages: technical and biological. The technical stage of reclamation provides for the removal, excavation of oil-contaminated soil, disposal of contaminated soil, delivery of clean soil and land planning. The biological stage is performed after the completion of the technical one and consists in restoring the fertile soil layer to the natural level by applying fertilizers and growing soil-improving crops.
